This year, Wild Friends students overwhelmingly voted to work on citizen science and bird protection!

At the start of the school year, students learned more about the importance of citizen science and bird protection in New Mexico through lessons about bird identification and population changes. Wild Friends students also helped draft their memorial about citizen science that will be introduced during the upcoming legislative session. The memorial will ask for the development of a Working Group with various state agencies and a citizen science pilot project about birds to help determine what is needed to use citizen science across the state.
